While reading Women Saints of the Golden Legend from the Aurea Legenda, I learned a lot about the saints from the late Middle Ages. Most of the saints lost a lot of their loved ones while fighting for Jesus Christ. Almost all of the saints were tempted, challenged, or faced with the devil or someone sent by the devil and prevailed.
Although there were techniques that I would use for my own story there was also a lot that I don't want to use for my own story. I like the meaning behind the stories more than the way the stories were written.
I enjoyed how the women's journeys to becoming saints was tough but they never let that get in the way of their goals. They continued to preserver because their love for Jesus was greater and he always provided. I think there is a lot to learn from this. I would like to write a story that there is a lot to learn from and is inspiring to others.
I didn't like how the stories were written, I understand it was a different time and the language was different back then but I found it hard to understand and not very descriptive. If anything I learned from these stories what I don't want my story to have or sound like. I want my story to have a constant flow to it and create images in the readers head.
