Reading Notes: Arabian Nights part B

After reading Arabian Nights  part B by Andrew Long I was shocked to learn some things about Aladdin I had never heard of before. Before reading these stories I had only watched the Disney movie of Aladdin. I love Aladdin but it turns out that I know less about the story than I thought. There were a couple of things that were portarayed in these stories that I would like to use in my own. Such as how they used multiple short stories to explain the entire story, I thought this was an effective way to keep the reader engaged. I also liked the structure of the stories, they all had a good flow to them which made it easy to read. I also liked the mixture between dialouge and descriptive sentences, Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp 1 did an especially good job at this. Sometimes there can be to much dialouge in a story but these short stories did a good job of only incoprating it when it would add to the story. I want to be able to better use dialouge in my stoires and after reading these stories I beleive I can.
