Reading Notes: The Arabian Nights' Entertainments

While reading The Arabian Nights' Entertainments by Andrew Lang there are a couple ideas and strategies I would use in my own story. I liked how the stories showed good back and forth dialogue throughout the entire story. The dialogue was easy to follow and added more detail to the story. By adding the dialogue it allowed for the reader to connect more with the story and be able to feel as if they were a part of that conversation. One thing that I didn't like about this set of stories was that there was very little action which made for a less entertaining and interactive story. For example, The Story of the Merchant and the Genius lacked a good climax and downfall in my opinion but did do a good job of portraying interaction between the characters. I learned for my story I want to show a conversation between my characters.
