After reading, "Egyptian Myth and Legend" by Donald Mackenzie I got some good ideas of what I wanted to do and didn't want to do when writing my own story. I liked how the stories focused on plot. The stories provided both suspense and elements of surprise. A good example of this is found in The Two Brothers:Part One , "the elder brother became like an angry panther. He sharpened his dagger and went out and stood behind the door of the byre with purpose to slay young Bata when he came nigh." This sentence creates an image of the elder brother and causes the reader to feel the suspense building up. The reader is on the edge or their seats waiting to see what the brother will do.
