I really enjoyed reading part B of "The Monkey King Sun Wu Kung" from the book of The Chinese Fairy Book by R. Wilhelm. Throughout the entire reading the ape showed to be very mischievous, power hungry, jealous, and self destructive. A perfect example of this is found in "The Queen-Mother of the West". During this story the Great Saint ate all of the peaches from the garden and tried to hide it from the caretakers and gardeners. Throughout the collection of stories the Great Saint treats others with disrespect and is very inconsiderate. I think it would be fun to incorporate a character with similar characteristics in my own story. My theme is choose joy, so I could easily incorporate some sort of revolution with a troubled character and explain their journey to choosing joy.
